FAQs

Are you strictly masonry construction?

While masonry is a large part of what we do, we also specialize in other home improvement projects such as laying hardwood floors and tile bathroom renovations. We also offer excavation and commercial snow removal services

Can only contractors work with RMC?

While we do work with many different types of professionals, a large majority of homeowners come to us directly.  For smaller scale projects, we are happy to handle scheduling with any other contractors needed for the project, such as a plumber or electrician, so you won’t need to take on an additional role of project manager.  We can also work with your township to obtain the required permits.

Can RMC install materials I already own?

We are happy to install materials you already purchased.  If you purchased them locally, we can even pick up the materials for you with one of our trucks.  Even if you have not already purchased materials, we’ll still give you the choice to purchase them yourself or if you would like us to purchase them for you.  Feel free to ask us about which local suppliers we have accounts with for preferred customer pricing.

What is your process?

We start each conversation with a phone call to learn a little bit about your project.  We’ll schedule a time to meet you at the site of your project to discuss in further detail and take necessary measurements.  While we may be able to give you a ballpark price range initially, we will need to work up an itemized estimate in a formal proposal. The consultation and estimate is provided free of charge.

Once contracts are signed and initial payment is received, we will schedule a date with you to begin the project.  Many projects we can do year-round.

Each day of the project, we will take the necessary precautions to keep the jobsite clean and organized.  We will also communicate our progress and our daily schedule so, you’ll know that your project will be completed on time and you’ll know that we will show up when we say we will.  However, we never sacrifice quality just to get a project done quickly.

Will the price of the project be exactly what was estimated?

Our goal is for the price to be exactly what is originally provided, and in most cases it is.  However, there are instances where we come across unforeseen damages or problems that prevent the project from going exactly as planned.  In this situation, we let you know about the problem as soon as it is discovered and we will discuss the options to remediate the issue, while minimizing the impact on the budget and schedule.  Once this is decided, we will provide a change order.  A change order is also provided if the client simply wants to just increase the scope of their original project.

A change order is a written contract authorizing us to do additional work, at a specified price, not included in the original contract.

What is your payment schedule?

We ask that payments are made 1/3 at the time the proposal is signed, 1/3 at the halfway point and 1/3 at project completion.  If this won’t work for you, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are both licensed and insured.  As a professional contractor, it is our responsibility to insure all of our workers.  It’s extremely important to hire a fully insured contractor because if an uninsured worker gets injured on a residential property, it could mean the homeowner is liable.  We are happy to provide you with proof of insurance.
